Where there has been a surgery policy change or error in historic configuration, you can bulk change a select list of User Preferences on accounts rather than needing them to change these individually.
A common example might be some non-prescribing users have had their 'Prescription Authorising' setting missed. This can be achieved with the Propagate User Preferences screen (henceforth: PUP)
How it works
PUP copies the User Preferences from a nominated Source user to Target users you specify. The Source user might be yourself or another member of staff that has the correct preference to be copied. The Source user's User Preferences must be saved before PUP is used or the wrong preferences will be propagated.
Confirm the "Source user" User Preference
The PUP source user should open their preferences. If they have to change settings to get them as needed for propagation, they need to close SystmOne so these are saved first before the PUP screen is used.
Determine when to perform the bulk change
Bulk changes via PUP can only be guaranteed to take hold if staff are not signed in. It is therefore advisable to perform changes out of normal working hours. Remember that users being signed into the Gateway or a Patient Check-in screen still count as being signed in.
If there is no good time to do this, consider performing the changes in batch based on staff working patterns.
Running the change
- Open Setup > Bulk operations > Propagate User Preferences
- Select your Source user
- Move the relevant Target users into Selected
- Indicate the User Preference to Copy (from Source user to Target users)
- Ok
❗Remember: This will not apply to users currently signed in, even if selected as 'Target Users'.
