I can't amend my Clinical Tree!

Long term solution

If you can't amend your clinical tree and need a change, you should discuss this with your surgery System Administrators. They manage the central trees per staff group via Organisation Preferences (Setup > Users & Policy > Organisation Preferences).

One-off/short-term workaround

If you need to use a clinical tree "node" (option) as a one-off or irregularly you can do so without adding it to your tree.


With a patient record option:

  1. Click in Search features (bottom left of SystmOne)
  2. Start typing View Ad Hoc node and select the option that appears
  3. The View Ad Hoc Node window will open where you can search of browse for node you wish to use.
  4. After selecting an item and clicking Ok, the node will now be open.


Note: If you then click to a node already in the in the tree, the ad hoc node you opened will close and if needed again will need to be re-opened following the same process.
