Remote Booking API (Deprecation)

Not to be confused with SystmOne 'Remote Booking' between SystmOne services; the 'Remote Booking API' allowed SystmOne services to have external (non-SystmOne) services book appointments; such as 111 and CCAS. The 'Remote Booking API' is being removed in June 2025; this functionality has been replaced with 'GP Connect'.

You may already be configured correctly for GP Connect.


Step 1: Validate your setup for GP Connect appointment booking for 111

Please validate your appointments are available using the GP Connect Appointments Checker.


  1. Visit https://appointmentchecker.gpconnect.nhs.uk/
  2. Sign in with your 'NHS.net Connect' account (formerly NHSmail)
  3. Select/enter the following:
    1. Search at: Your surgery ODS code
    2. Search on behalf of: NTP (Practice Plus Group) and consumer orgaisation type can be left as N/A
  4. Search for free slots

If your 111 appointments do not appear, or do not appear to the extent you expect: ️Follow the guidance in TPP's documenation (as per the task) and afterwards complete Step 2 below.

If your 111 appointments appear: They are available to at least the local 111 provider; proceed to Step 2.


Step 2: Disable the old method (Remote Booking API)

This should prevent any further prompts/alerts from TPP

  1. Setup > Users & Policy > Organisation Preferences > Appointments > External Appointment Booking
  2. Untick 'Enable external appointment booking'
