The following steps show how to check if any 'Generic' User mailboxes have been added to your Outlook profile with a password and ensure these are removed.
- Open Outlook Desktop
- Click File (top left)
- Click Account Settings > then Accounts Settings again on the menu that opens
- On the Account Settings window...
- If only your mailbox address is listed: you have no action to take. You're done; close Account Settings, you do not need to read further.
- If there are generic user mailboxes listed, these should be removed, or they will stop working. Select the generic mailbox (not your own!) and click the Remove button.
- If there is only a generic user mailbox listed (i.e. Your mailbox in your name is not listed); contact your normal IT service (AGEM/NEL) and ask them to fix your "Outlook profile" so only your User mailbox (in your name) is listed. Only mailboxes in your own name should be in the list for Email Accounts/Account Settings; other mailboxes should be accessed via delegate/member rights.
- Close Account Settings and it is recommended you close and reopen Outlook desktop. It may take some time for Outlook to re-download the mailboxes. During this time, you can access the complete mailbox via Outlook Web App.
