Nomination allocation defaults

AKA: What decides where scripts go if there are multiple nominations and how can I override the default?

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Types of Nomination

There are 3 types of EPS nomination. For most sites, only the first two are relevant.

  1. Pharmacy
  2. Dispensing Appliance Contractor (DAC)
  3. Dispensing doctor (Requires an EPS-compliant dispensing solution that allows dispensing surgeries to electronically sign internally-dispensed prescriptions and submit claims)

Users are presented by the 3 options whenever selecting a nomination for a patient:

How are issues allocated between Pharmacy and DAC?

If patient has both pharmacy and DAC nominated:

  • Issue medication(s):
    • ➕ Pharmacy
  • Issue appliance(s):
    • ♿ DAC (There are some logical exceptions which will default to Pharmacy)
  • Issue a combination:
    • Medicines will go to the Pharmacy.
    • You are prompted to decide where where the appliances should go before reaching the 'Print Issues' window. (The default selection is DAC).

Can I set a patient's appliance to go to the pharmacy/DAC by default?

Yes. This will remove the prompt when issuing that appliance with other items.

  1. Right-click the appliance
  2. Select Configure pharmacy allocation
  3.  Allocate the item to ➕ Pharmacy or ♿ DAC

In future there will be no prompt on this patient when issuing this combined with medication.

Where can I find more information about Dispensing Doctor EPS nominations?

Within SystmOne. Help > Support & FAQs, search Dispensing doctor EPS

⚠️ Note: EPS-compliant dispensing solutions are external to your clinical records system (TPP/EMIS) and are not centrally funded.
